Get Ready For The Bad Batch

Are you ready for Star Wars: The Bad Batch?

From Lucasfilm:

Star Wars: The Bad Batch,” follows the elite and experimental crew that makes up Clone Force 99, first introduced in the final season of the critically acclaimed series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.”

Adept at working together, Hunter, Wrecker, Tech and Crosshair are a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army—each possesses a singular exceptional skill that makes him an extraordinarily effective soldier and an invaluable part of a formidable crew. After rescuing clone trooper Echo from Separatist captivity in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars,” they welcomed the cybernetic soldier into their fold.

The series follows the Bad Batch as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War.

Reprising his role as the Bad Batch, who originated in the hit animated series The Clone Wars, actor Dee Bradley Baker said, “It’s fun to be Wrecker, because he’s so honest and so clear and funny. They’re all very interesting fellows, but Wrecker, he’s probably the furthest away from me.” For a brief introduction to the Bad Batch squad, check out IGN’s sizzle reel released today.

Head writer Jennifer Corbett brought her experience as a writer on NCIS to write some of the strongest offerings on Star Wars Resistance, including the episode “Rendezvous Point,” which introduced Resistance leader Venisa Doza. Speaking about the Clone Force 99, she noted the show’s setting. It starts in the dawn of the Empire. “Obviously two very different regimes, and how they react to this new environment and the new way of doing things and new way of following rules. Which isn’t their favorite thing to do. It was interesting to just sort of talk about the transition from the Republic to the Empire and what that looks like.”

Supervising director Brad Rau (Forces of Destiny) also expressed excitement about the setting. “And this time period that as a fan, I’m just so excited to see, because we haven’t seen that much about the rise of the Empire. So, to have the best of the best soldiers as suddenly fish out of water in this changing galaxy. How do they eat? They don’t have a mess hall to go to. How do they get their gear fixed? How do they get fuel for their ship?”

Tune in to Disney+ on Tuesday, May the Fourth, for the first episode and a Happy Star Wars Day. It’s 70 minutes. As we note on our latest podcast, really it’s a movie. A second episode will air in the normal release day of Friday, May 7th. Also stay tuned for a Priority Transmission from Fangirls Going Rogue.
