March is the month to celebrate women. The day after International Women’s Day actress Daisy Ridley had a powerful message for those critical of her.
And that starts Episode 30 off with a bang!
A lot of new Star Wars-themed additions are arriving to Disney Parks: Teresa Delgado is ready for the new fireworks, Sarah Woloski teases her Kylo Ren meet-and-greet on Episode 109 of Skywalking Through Neverland, and Tricia Barr thinks Jedi apprentice Anna really let it go on Darth Vader at the new Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple.
For fans into expanding their Star Wars horizon, tons of new books and comics are out. The Poe Dameron comic will launch with events at local comic book stores. For the kids, Disney Publishing has a really cool Original Trilogy graphic novel and Rey’s Story, which we all enjoyed.
Lots of other cool things are happening, including Bad Robot’s new diversity hiring initiative announced by J.J. Abrams, who will be speaking at SXSW. Teresa Delgado will be at the convention for his panel and the debut of Secrets of The Force Awakens: A Cinematic Journey, which comes out with the movie Blu-Ray next month. The Fangirls discuss what movie extras we’re most excited about.
It’s awards season. The Force Awakens might not have taken home an Oscar, but fans can help the movie to any number of MTV Movie Awards. Fangirls Going Rogue has also made it to the final round in several categories in the Star Wars Podcast Awards. Here’s a breakdown and how you can vote.
The ladies ponder what fairy tales parallel The Force Awakens. How is Kylo Ren like Cruella DeVille? The answer segues beautifully into our character discussion, featuring Rey’s nemesis. Does redemption work for the son who murdered his father? The difference in opinion creates an interesting discussion on Star Wars storytelling.
