Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. at WonderCon

The Marvel Universe is expanding to different genres and in the case of M.O.D.O.K, stop motion animation, courtesy of Stoopid Buddy. In the age of the Marvel success on Disney+, many might wonder why this show is on HULU. The decision is a correct one because MODOK is a wild ride that pushes hard on the family friendly boundaries of Disney’s streaming service. Many have referenced the feel of the series to that of Robot Chicken, but though this show shares creatives from the show and the same animation studio, it has a very unique feel to it.

For those not familiar with the character, here is a quick origin story. MODOK has been around since 1967. He is one of many characters created by Stan Lee & Jack Kirby. MODOK has evolved over the years with appearances in various Villian Team-Up books, Video Games, and contemporary comics with appearances in Marvel Zombies. MODOK stands for Mental/Mobile/Mechanized Organism Designed Only for Killing. In the past few years MODOK has morphed into an angst filled B-list villain just striving for a little respect.

Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt are channeling this energy into a stop motion animated series with lots of action and irreverent humor.

An array of guest stars ranging from Jon Hamm (playing Tony Stark), to Whoopi Goldberg voicing a character named Poundcakes. Fan favorite Nathan Fillion will also be bringing the character Wonder Man to the show. There are also two prominent female characters in the show, MODOK’s wife and daughter played by Melissa Fumero and Aimee Garcia
